Daily Sun Football Preview I just wanted to make a note to all Tiger fans that if you didn't get a copy of the 2003 Football Preview that the Daily Sun put out, you should do so. I was expecting the same preview they always put out and they went well beyond and put out a football preview edition that in all honesty is probably one of the best in the state as far as newspapers go. Tigers Win 38 - 22 The Tigers got their season off on the right foot with a 38-22 victory over the Greenville Lions. Click here for a full recap of the game. It's Game Time! This Friday night in Corsicana the 2003 Tiger football season kicks off with Greenville coming to town. Click here for a full preview... ***due to one of our staff members being in the hospital we did not make it to the scrimmage*** Euless Trinity Scrimmage On Tap This Thursday the Euless Trinity Trojans will come to Corsicana to scrimmage the Tigers in their final tune-up before the season opener against Greenville. We will be there to cover the Tigers performance. Tigers to Scrimmage Belton Saturday The Tigers will travel to Belton on Saturday for their first scrimmage of the season. The varsity will start at 10 a.m. Pre-Season Top Ten Released corsicanafootball.com's 2003 pre-season 4A Top Ten has been finished. Click on the link to the left to see who made the list. Tigers Fall in Championship Bracket The Tigers fell to the Bay City Blackcats in the championship bracket of the state 7-on-7 tournament 35-33. The Tigers scored on the first play of the game with a strike from Daniel Orr to Jon Bauer. Bay City countered with a touchdown but after the Tigers scored again to go up 13-6 Jonte Manning intercepted Scott Elliott's pass and ran it in to put the Tigers up 20-6. It was a short lived lead though as the Blackcats rallied to go up 21-20 at halftime. The second half started as a defensive struggle as both teams went two possessions without scoring before Bay City again hit the end zone to take a 28-20 lead. The Tigers responded when Orr hit Clarence Robinson for a TD but the Tigers were unable to convert the two point try which would prove costly. The Blackcats scored one more time and with the extra point held a 9 point lead with little time remaining. Orr and Robinson would connect again to cut the lead to 35-33 but time expired after the touchdown. The Tigers had a good run in College Station and lost to one of the best teams in the tournament. On Friday the Tigers defeated Baytown Lee and Richland in pool play while suffering only one loss (Port Arthur Memorial).
