Tigers Scalp Indians 31-17

The Tigers went into Jacksonville and won 31 - 17 to move to 2-0 on the season.  This is the first time in Coach Jeff Berry's tenure the Tigers have started 2-0.

Jacksonville got the opening kickoff and promptly scored on a long pass play to put the Tigers behind for the first time in the young season.  On the ensuing kickoff though, Ray Sims had a terriffic return taking the ball deep inside Indian territory which set up a Clarence Robinson touchdown run.

After forcing Jacksonville to punt, the Tiger special teams unit again came up big as Jon Bauer's return gave the Tigers the ball for the second time inside the Indian 30 yard line.  Daniel Orr would then hit Tyjuan Manning with a TD pass to put the Tigers up 14-7.  The Indians would again answer the Tigers as Indian QB Trevalyn Canady was a thorn in the Tiger side all game long and led the Indians to a tying touchdown.

In the second quarter Clarence Robinson would add his second TD run of the night to give the Tigers a lead they wouldn't relinquish.  Jacksonville had the ball inside the Tiger 5 yard line but had to settle for a field goal and at the half the score was Corsicana 21, Jacksonville 17.

The Tiger offense couldn't muster anything on their first possession of the second half and had to punt, but a fumble by the Indians once again gave the Tigers possession inside Jacksonville territory and Daniel Orr would run it in to build the Tiger lead to 28-17.  The Tiger coaching staff made some excellent adjustments at halftime and Jacksonville couldn't get any more points on the board with the Tiger D making some key stops on fourth down conversion attempts.  Matt Pratt would add a field goal to round out the scoring as the final was a Tiger win 31 - 17.

One final note, a Jacksonville wide receiver was taken off the field by paramedics.  We aren't sure of the severity, but our prayers are with him and his family.
