Tigers Take Home A Win
The Tigers beat Red Oak 38-21 on Homecoming
night. On a soggy night in Corsicana the Tigers finished off the
regular season with a victory which gives them a 9-1 mark going into next
week's playoff rematch with Waxahachie.
Red Oak got the ball first but didn't have it
long as they fumbled on their first play from scrimmage and the Tigers
recovered. A Clarence Robinson touchdown put the Tigers on top early.
Robinson was dominant on Friday night as he would score again shortly
thereafter to put the Tigers on top 14-0. After a Tiger stop, Jon
Bauer returned a punt for a touchdown to put the Tigers on top 21-0.
On the ensuing drive though the Hawks got a long pass play that set up their
first touchdown of the night to make it 21-7, but Robinson had the answer as
he would score his third touchdown of the night to go up 28-7. Jonte
Manning would get an interception on the Hawks next possession but the
Tigers weren't able to capitalize. On the Hawks next drive after a
Tiger punt, Tomarrio Cleveland would intercept a pass and the Tigers would
get a Matt Pratt field goal to go up 31-7 at the half.
In the second half it took the Tigers 3 plays
to score as Robinson would have a huge run that set up a 16 yard Daniel Orr
keeper for the Tigers final score to make the game 38-7 at that point.
Red Oak would add two touchdowns to make the score respectable at the end.
The Tiger offense and defense were firing on
almost all cylinders in the first half. A downpour at halftime along
with the homecoming festivities seemed to calm down the Tiger intensity in
the second half but all in all it was a good preparation game for next
week's playoff tilt with the Indians.
