Tigers Get Offensive In Opener

The Tigers took four plays to get their first touchdown of the season when Clarence Robinson scampered in from 26 yards out in the Tigers 38-22 season opening victory over Greenville. The Tigers led 17-0 at the half and would extend their lead to 31-0 in the third quarter. Substitutions and a change of defense breathed life into a Greenville offense in the fourth quarter as the Lions scored 22 straight points. The Tigers got a great kick return from Jonte Manning in response and a clutch TD pass from Daniel Orr to Jon Bauer sealed the Tiger victory. The Tigers got two TD's from Robinson, two passing TD's from Orr (one to Tyjuan Manning and the other to Bauer) and also a rushing TD from Orr. The offensive line was dominant for much of the night and all in all the offense looked like the veteran outfit it is.

The score belies how well the Tiger defense played as through the first three quarters penalties were Greenville's best tactic to get a first down. The Tiger defensive line was getting through the backfield regularly and pressuring the Greenville QB.

There were some rough edges, but all in all it was a convincing season opening win for the Tigers.
