Tigers Make Stand, Get Victory

The Tigers needed a goalline stand at the end of the game to hold back Lancaster Friday night and take a 24-20 victory.  Lancaster called it's final timeout with 18 seconds to play and the ball inside the 1 yard line.  Coach Berry inserted offensive lineman William Collins into the defensive line to beef up the interior and it worked.  Lancaster ran into a wall of Tigers and time ran out before another play could be snapped.

The Tigers opened the scoring with a Matt Pratt field goal but it was a short lived lead as Lancaster marched down the field and Antroin Broom scored from four yards out to take the lead.  On the Tigers next possession QB Daniel Orr would throw an interception that Rodrick Stewart returned 75 yards for another Lancaster touchdown.  Another stalled drive followed by a Lancaster touchdown (with a missed extra point) and Lancaster had scored 20 straight points on the Tigers and seemed to have control of the game.

The Tiger offense finally got untracked however as Orr hit TE Hudson Marx for a 23 yard touchdown pass to cut the halftime lead to 20-10.  After the intermission, the teams swapped possessions before Clarence Robinson cut the Lancaster lead to 3 with a 12 yard run.  In the fourth quarter Ray Sims would make a huge interception and return it into Lancaster territory but the Tigers were unable to capitalize and had to punt.

After the Tiger D came up big and made the needed stop, the Tiger O would come alive and take the lead when Daniel Orr scored from the one yard line with just under two minutes remaining.  Lancaster wasn't done though and would move the ball all the way to inside the one yard line when the Tigers made their stand and got the victory.
