It's Game Time!
On Friday night the wait is over and the Tigers
will take the field for the 2003 season. After last season's
disappointing end at the ends of rival Waxahachie, Friday has been a long
time coming.
Being the first game of the season, there
are more questions than answers for our very first preview.
1. How good can this offense be? - The
Tigers return 9 of their 11 starters from last year's team including QB
Daniel Orr and RB Clarence Robinson. Orr will have some great targets
to throw to as well with 16-4A Soph of the Year Jon Bauer and Tyjuan Manning
both returning.
2. So what is the key to the offense?
The key will be a big, experienced, and talented offensive line led by 3
year starter William Collins. Collins was a force last season and will
be expected to anchor the line this year that also includes Luis Vasquez,
Joe Holmes, Montrae Bush, and Matt Phillips. The skill position guys
will get the headlines, but the Tiger line has a chance to be dominant this
year.
3. How do you replace Hawthorne,
Castillo, and Solomon? - The toughest question for Tiger fans will be how
those three can be replaced. Thomas Reese, Brandon Capehart, and
Jeremy Powers have been pencilled in for those roles according to our info.
Capehart got some time last year spelling Castillo for brief stretches and
Reese was a special teams beast (one of our staff members would watch Reese
on punt and kickoffs instead of the play). You can't replace talent
like the Tigers had in the graduated trio, but don't underestimate this
year's linebacking corps either.
We'll have pictures, videos, and a game
recap up on the web Friday night so check back to see how the Tigers did!
