Tigers Travel To Tomato Bowl
On Friday the Tigers will travel to
Jacksonville to take on the Indians. The Indians struggled in their
season opener against Stephenville losing 17-7 and only having 127 yards of
total offense. The key to that loss was the third quarter when
Jacksonville only ran 3 offensive plays from scrimmage while Stephenville
dominated the game by scoring a touchdown and keeping the Indian offense on
the field. The Indians beat the Tigers
in Corsicana last year after losing to Stephenville so the Tigers will have
their hands full against a team that is always a contender. Trevalyn
Canady and Casey Scruggs will look to jumpstart the Indian offense after
misfiring last week.
The Tigers are coming off a victory over
Greenville in their season opener but will be looking to improve in all
areas as the district season approaches. The Tigers gave up 22 points
in the final quarter and a half and will need to slam the door on
Jacksonville if they get a big lead. Offensively the Tigers looked
sharp behind their veteran offensive line. Clarence Robinson had a big
night running the ball (167 yards) and Daniel Orr rushed for 47 more.
Through the air both Jon Bauer and Tyjuan Manning made some big catches.
All in all, the Tigers looked sharp in their opener and will need to be just
as sharp against a traditionally tough foe.
