Playoffs On The Line Friday Night

Friday night's game against Mabank will mark the most important game of the year to date for the Tigers because with a win Corsicana will grab a playoff spot for Coach Henigan in his first year as a head coach.  Standing in the way of the Tigers playoff ambitions are the Mabank Panthers.  Though it comes as no surprise to Tiger fans that their team is playing for the postseason, some will be surprised to know that Mabank is also playing for the playoffs after their 42-14 win over Athens last week.  If Mabank can win 2 of their final 3 games they'll head to the playoffs which should make the game an intense affair.

Mabank comes into the game with a world of confidence after last week's win.  First year coach Jimmy Cantrell has gotten the offense going despite losing their original starting QB Tyler Hamilton to injury early in the year.  The Panthers have scored 38 or more points in all three of their victories.  RB Juston Richardson will lead the Mabank attack as he has rushed for 747 yards and 7 touchdowns on the year.  Donald Rightenour and Chance Johnson will split the quarterbacking duties but they are very different players.  Rightenour has attempted 37 pass attempts while Johnson only 5.

On paper, the Mabank defense would seem to be overmatched against a Tiger offense that welcomes back QB Eric Gordon to the starting lineup this week.  Gordon threw for 677 yards in four games before spraining his shoulder.  One thing that hasn't changed in his absence is that Jon Bauer will still be his top target.  Bauer is the DFW area's leading 4A receiver with 719 yards and 10 touchdowns on the season.

Come out to Tiger Field and support the Tigers on Friday!!!
