Storied Program Next For Tigers
Saturday night the Tigers will
take on one of the most storied programs in Texas history when they travel
to Waco ISD stadium to play the Brownwood Lions. Brownwood, along with
Corsicana, is one of only seven teams to have won 600 games in the history
of their program.
The Lions come into the game
off of a thrilling 34-33 win over Midlothian in the first round of the
playoffs. Trailing 33-21 going into the fourth quarter Brownwood made
a terrific rally and got the win to move on. The Lions are led by
their super tailback Jamal Organ who ran for 180 yards last week and has
1570 yards on the season. The Tigers are no strangers to top notch
tailbacks having faced Decory King last week and Terry Sampson of Lancaster
earlier in the year but Organ could be the best the Tigers have seen all
year.
Brownwood will mix it up on
offense as sophomore QB Jarrett Lee has thrown for over 1500 yards this
year. Bart Johnson is the top receiving threat but the Lions will
spread it around efficiently. The Lions can put points on the board in
a hurry as they have averaged almost 35 points per game in their last seven
contests.
Britton Maxwell is the
leader of the Brownwood defense having 139 tackles on the season. The
Lion defense struggled early in the year against a difficult non-district
schedule but has really picked it up as the year as progressed.
Midlothian brought a potent offense into last week's game and when they had
to Brownwood shut them down in the fourth quarter.
This should be a great game
between two great programs. The Lions are on a roll having won 6 of
their last 7 games and have a lot of momentum going into Saturday.
Come out Saturday to support the Tigers!!!
