It's Showtime - Lions & Tigers For the District Title

Friday night's game is easily the most anticipated, biggest game of the season so far.  Ennis brings an identical 8-1 season mark as well as an identical 4-0 district mark into the game.  Tiger fans have been looking forward to Nov. 5 since last year and the game got a little bit more interesting this past offseason with Coach Berry stepping down and moving to Ennis and Coach Henigan taking the reins of the Tigers.

The Tigers and Lions have both rampaged through District 14-4A blowing out everyone except Lancaster and both beat Lancaster by more than 16 points.  The Lion offense is led by QB Jake Brown who's thrown for over 1800 yards and 20 touchdowns on the year.  Brown is also a capable runner having rushed for over 300 yards.  Multi-purpose RB Marc Malone who torched the Tigers last year is bigger, stronger and better as a junior.  Malone has just under 1000 yards of total offense on the year.  Brown's favorite target when he throws the ball is Andrew Novak although he spreads the ball around almost equally also to Scotty Thornton and Malone out of the backfield.

The Tiger defense has played great  and improved each week.  The secondary is the strength of the team and will need to contain the vaunted Harrell aerial attack while at the same time keeping Malone under check.  A key will be how much pressure the Tiger D line gets on Brown.  Lionel Gillespie, Richard McJunkin and company have done a good job of that on the year and will need to keep it up.

On defense, the Lions are led by an extremely talented defensive line led by the monster tackle Greg Jones.  Dennis Beasley is also another exceptional player the Lions will line up at end.  In the secondary Patrick Roberts is the quarterback of another solid group.  The Lion defense has only allowed 20 points once and that was in their lone loss of the year to 5A Garland.  The Tigers have put up a lot of points on the board so it's an interesting meeting between contrasting trends.

It's a great rivalry, it's at home, come out and support the Tigers!!!
