Tigers Rout Trojans on Homecoming

The Tigers rebounded from their first loss of the season with a terrific 45-14 win over Waco University.  The Tigers exploded with 28 points in the first quarter and coasted from there.  QB Keith Leerskov gave the homecoming crowd a win in his first varsity start.

The Tigers opened the scoring with a power based run oriented drive to open the game that was capped by Jay Finley's 7 yard run.  On the next drive Jon Bauer showed his versatility by throwing a 60 yard touchdown to Greg Stewart.  Leerskov would run in the third score of the game and the rout was on when LB Brandon Capehart scooped up a Trojan fumble and ran it in from 40 yards to put the Tigers up by four touchdowns.

University would score two quick touchdowns in the second half capitalizing on Tomarrio Cleveland's injury which left the Tiger secondary without one of it's best pass defenders.  The Tiger coaches quickly adjusted though and shut the Trojan offense down for the rest of the game.

Leerskov would get his first passing touchdown of the year to Rian Stubbs and would run in another to finish off the scoring.  It was an impressive performance for the Tigers in their final tune-up before district play begins.  The Tiger D was a little shaky at the start of the second half with Cleveland out, but once they adjusted they had an impressive showing as they forced four turnovers and held the Trojans to -1 yards rushing.
