Tigers Defeat Hawks 40-17

The Tigers dominated again early despite some costly turnovers in Red Oak territory to build a 40-3 lead and hold on for a 40-17 win.  Jon Bauer continued his explosive ways by catching three touchdown passes from QB Keith Leerskov to pace the scoring attack.  Keith Leerskov and Michael Solomon both added touchdown runs and Kris Perez added a FG to round out the offense's scores.  For the second straight game the Tigers D got a safety to round out the Tigers scoring.

The Tigers led at the half 30-3 and put it on cruise control in the second half at one point building a 40-3 lead before the Hawks made a belated comeback bid to get two late touchdowns to finish the scoring at 40-17.  Sophomore WR Greg Stewart was injured in the third period and had to be taken off the field on a stretcher which seemed to deflate the Tigers a little bit (the Daily Sun quoted Coach Henigan as saying that it was a precautionary move).

With the victory the Tigers moved to 2-0 in district play and set up next week's game against Mabank as pivotal for getting a playoff spot (Mabank defeated Athens 42-14 on Friday).  We'll have pictures and vdieo highlights up later this weekend.
