Tigers Win In Monsoon

The Tigers defeated Brownwood 38-21 on Saturday night in a game that was played through a downpour for much of the contest.  The Tiger offense exploded in the first half with 28 points and added 10 more in the second half.  The Tiger defense smothered Brownwood in the first half and with 5 interceptions sealed the deal in the second.

The Tigers would jump out to an early lead on their first possession when QB Eric Gordon hit Kendall Gooden for a 53 yard touchdown pass.  Gordon would add an 8 yard TD pass to Rian Stubbs in the first quarter to put the Tigers up by 14.  Brownwood's great RB Jamall Organ would get Brownwood's scoring started with a 6 yard run.  The Tiger offense would keep it coming turning to their ground game in the heavy rain as in the second quarter Jay Finley and Ray Sims would both add touchdown runs to put the Tigers on top 28-6 going into the half.

Sims would open the second half with an interception and Finley would take one play to go 32 yards for his second score of the night to put the Tigers on top 35-6.  Brownwood showed their resiliency by scoring 15 unanswered points in the third quarter behind the strong running of Organ to make it a 35-21 game going into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth, the Tiger D and a fourth down conversion by Rian Stubbs which led to a Kris Perez field goal sealed the deal.  The Tigers would get a total of 5 interceptions in the second half to keep the Lions from getting too close.  Dallas Lincoln beat Sulphur Springs 36-10 and is next for the Tigers at 1pm Friday at Texas Stadium.
